Om Raut‘s Adipurush has to be a case study in the disaster management of a film. The epic mythological fantasy film met with an overwhelmingly negative response from the critics and the audiences for its wrongful depiction of Ramayan, poorly written dialogues, and horrible visual effects. Even though the film managed to have a good opening, it eventually went downhill after the reviews came out.

Recently, two people Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan had filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court, seeking a ban on the Prabhas–Kriti Sanon starrer film. The court continues to slam its makers for portraying the Ramayan characters in a ‘very shameful manner’. One of the judges reprimanded the makers and dared them to make fun of any other religion.
The judge said, “Suppose if you make even a short documentary on the Quran, depicting wrong things, then you will see what will happen. However, I may once again clarify that it is not about any one religion. It is by chance that this issue is concerned with Ramayana, otherwise, the Court belongs to all religions.”

The Bench Also Slammed CBFC
Earlier, the Lucknow division of the Allahabad High Court called out the makers for hurting people’s religious sentiments with Adipurush. The judges also slammed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). They were asked to submit their personal affidavits. One judge said, “certifying this movie was a blunder and that it has hurt the sentiments of the people.”
