Sharvari Wagh is set to appear in the action-packed world of Yash Raj Films’ Alpha, where she’ll star alongside Alia Bhatt. To prepare for her role, Wagh is undergoing a rigorous physical transformation with the help of fitness trainer Robin Behl.
Wagh’s character needed to be strong, sexy, and capable. But Behl stressed that being strong doesn’t mean losing femininity.
“Sharvari was already in great shape, but for Alpha, we needed to take her fitness to the next level. The challenge was to build strength without compromising her femininity or the fluidity of her movements,” he told Mid-day.
Sharvari Wagh’s Rigorous Training Regimen For Alpha
Behl’s training approach was a precise blend of strength, endurance, and agility. “We focused on building a strong core, powerful legs, and upper body strength,” Behl explained.
He added, “But it wasn’t just about lifting weights. We included a lot of bodyweight exercises, handstands, and mobility drills to ensure her movements were graceful and dynamic.” Boxing was also added to enhance her physique and agility.
In addition to physical conditioning, Behl wanted to instil an athlete’s mindset in Wagh. To achieve this, she trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Carl Varel, Asia’s number-six expert in the sport.
“I wanted Sharvari to experience grappling, clinching, and take-downs firsthand. This would help her understand how athletes move and react, which is crucial for action sequences,” he said.
The training was demanding, but Wagh’s commitment was impressive. “She was a relentless student,” Behl noted. “I often found myself struggling to keep up with her energy levels. She was always eager to push her limits and try new things.”
The results of this intense training are evident. Wagh has reduced her body fat by 9% in just 5 months, gaining muscle mass and definition.
Sharvari’s Career Front
Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, marks a significant step in Wagh’s career. Rawail, known for The Railway Men, is at the helm of this high-octane film.
Wagh was last seen in Munjya and the Netflix film Maharaj. Besides Alpha, she is also preparing for the release of Vedaa, directed by Nikkhil Advani. Vedaa is set to compete with Khel Khel Mein and Stree 2 on August 15.
