Anees Bazmee, known for blockbuster hits like No Entry and Singh Is Kinng, has addressed rumours of a fallout with Shahid Kapoor over their shelved comedy project. The film, initially planned for August 2023 with Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, was reportedly put on hold after creative differences arose.
Bazmee had earlier revealed that while the collaboration with Kapoor didn’t work out, he was determined to move forward with the project, calling it “a great script.”
Now, the director has shared new insights, hinting that the project might see a revival with Kapoor after all. Speaking to News18, Bazmee said, “I still have that film in my mind. I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun working with Shahid. He’s very good! Why shouldn’t I work with him again? Mujhe kisi se na dushmani hai na naaraazgi.”
Creative Differences, Not A Fallout – Clarifies Anees Bazmee
Addressing the earlier reports of creative differences, Bazmee clarified his perspective. “When you make a film, there should be an agreement between two people,” he explained. “In an ideal situation, you’ve to be honest to one another in terms of the expectations that you’ve from each other. This is the only way to get rid of any kind of confusion.”
The filmmaker also acknowledged that he and Kapoor have their own unique ways of working, which didn’t align at the time. “Shahid has his own way of working and thinking. Sometimes, two thought processes may not align, but that’s completely alright. It’s okay to not work together in a situation like that. If we can align our sensibilities, we’ll definitely work again,” Bazmee said.
Filmmaker Claims His Relationship With Shahid Is UNAFFECTED
Despite the differences, Bazmee insisted that his relationship with Kapoor remains unaffected. “That hasn’t impacted our equation in any way. Whenever he meets me, he talks to me with a lot of love and respect. I have the same amount of love in my heart for him. But one thing I can tell you is that when we come together again, we’ll definitely make a great film.”
The untitled comedy project sparked much speculation, with reports suggesting it may feature Kapoor in dual roles and include an ensemble cast, a hallmark of Bazmee’s films. There were also rumours that Ayushmann Khurrana might step in for Kapoor in a horror-comedy directed by Bazmee and produced by Junglee Pictures, leaving fans wondering if it’s the same project.
Meanwhile, Bazmee is basking in the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which has shattered box office records.
