Earlier we reported that Abhishek Bachchan will not star in filmmaker Jagan Shakti’s Ayyappanum Koshiyum adaptation, which will star John Abraham. And now we know that the directors have cast Arjun Kapoor in the second lead role, replacing Abhishek Bachchan, who will face off against John in this two-hero picture. By November, the film will be in theatres.
“John and Arjun are currently shooting for Ek Villain Returns. Both of them have gelled up well on the sets. John discussed the idea of getting Arjun on board the film with his director, Jagan Shakti, who insisted on a meeting with the actor. The two met and hit the ball rolling from the word go. While John will play the role of Biju Menon from the original, Arjun steps into Prithviraj’s shoes. The prep work has begun and film goes on floors by November 2021,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla.
Both John and Arjun will play villains in Ek Villain 2, which is said to be a combat royale between two baddies. Similarly, the duo will portray egoistic characters with grey hues in the Ayyappanum Koshiyum remake, and will be seen fighting each other in many confrontational moments. The source added, “However, their character traits are completely different in the two films and one will be surprised with their chemistry on screen.”
Meanwhile, Pathan, Attack, and Satyameva Jayate 2 are among John’s other projects. Arjun, on the other hand, has a busy schedule with Bhoot Police, Ajay Bahl’s upcoming film, and Kuttey. While Bhoot Police is set to hit theatres in September, Kuttey and Ajay Bahl’s next is set to begin production soon.
