Baby John: Amid Disastrous Run, Varun Dhawan Starrer Loses Over 2000 Shows As Pushpa 2 & Mufasa Continue Strong Run, To Be Kicked Out Of Theatres Soon

Baby John continues to struggle with disappointing earnings and a loss of 2,000+ shows just nine days after its release.

Baby John was one of the highly-anticipated films of 2024. Unfortunately, it is struggling at the box office in a way no one expected. Released on Christmas Day, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Despite its massive budget and the backing of director Atlee, the movie has yet to even make Rs 50 crore worldwide.

2000+ Shows Of Baby John Pulled From Theatres

The situation is worse as Baby John has been pulled from over 2,000 shows just nine days after its release. This drop comes as a shock especially given the buzz surrounding its release. But the film was up against tough competition, especially Pushpa 2: The Rule, which has been doing exceptionally well at the box office.

In addition, Mufasa: The Lion King hit cinemas a few days before and has already earned over Rs 100 crore in India.

Baby John BO Performance So Far

Despite being the only big release during the Christmas period, Baby John didn’t perform well. It made just Rs 11.25 crore on its opening day. Things got worse the next day, with the film’s earnings dropping 60% to Rs 5.13 crore. By Day 3, the numbers kept falling, with only Rs 3.80 crore in earnings. Even the weekend couldn’t save it, with just Rs 4.20 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.75 crore on Sunday.

After the first weekend, the film had made only Rs 29.13 crore. The following days saw even more drops. It earned just Rs 1.75 crore on Monday and Rs 2.05 crore on Tuesday. Even New Year’s Day, a big day for movie collections, didn’t help much, with only Rs 2.75 crore in earnings. By Day 8, the total earnings were Rs 36.68 crore, and experts predict it will finish the first week with around Rs 39 crore.

Given its huge budget and the festive release period, Baby John was expected to do much better, with projections of Rs 60-70 crore in its first weekend. Instead, it barely managed Rs 39 crore in its first week. Judging from the current condition, it is expected to be kicked out of theatres.

Looking ahead, the movie’s future doesn’t look bright. It’s expected to finish its run with under Rs 45 crore, a far cry from what was hoped for.
