Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his next film, Bad Newz, where he shares the screen with Ammy Virk and Triptii Dimri. Among the buzz, his dance performance in the song “Tauba Tauba” has garnered significant attention.
Many celebrities, including Salman Khan, have praised his moves. However, it’s the reaction of his wife, Katrina Kaif, a renowned dancer herself, that has Kaushal beaming with pride.
Vicky Kaushal On Katrina Kaif Liking His Dance: ‘That Approval Is Like An Oscar’
In a candid chat with Mashable India, Vicky shared his thoughts on Katrina’s reaction to his dance in Bad Newz. When asked who the better dancer was between the two, Vicky humbly admitted, “She is in a different league. She’s just too good at what she does… humne bas visarjan mein dance kiya hai (I have only danced on the occasion of visarjan). I am not a trained dancer.”
He expressed his delight over Katrina’s approval, equating it to winning an Oscar. “That approval is like an Oscar,” he said, underscoring how much her opinion means to him.
In an earlier interview with Film Companion, Vicky had revealed his relief upon receiving Katrina’s endorsement. “The biggest relief was when she approved of the song. She was like this is good. And I was like shukaar hai (heave a sigh of relief). She keeps telling me, ‘I know you love to dance. But you are a baraati dancer, and not a trained one’. That’s because I get carried away, and she tells me that is fine in real life, but I need to preserve the energy for the camera.”
Vicky added, “This time, she was happy because I held it back in terms of expression, moves and attitude. She was talking on those lines when she said that dancing is good. And she was happier on that front that I kept it cool.”
Vicky REACTS To Bosco Martis’ Fight For Credits Of ‘Tauba Tauba’ Success
While Vicky’s performance is being applauded by fans and Bollywood celebs alike, choreographer Bosco Martis raised an important issue. In an interview with India Today, he mentioned that choreographers often don’t receive adequate credit when songs become hits. Vicky stood by Bosco, emphasising the collaborative effort behind any performance.
“Main woh step ghar se thodi na le kar aaya, woh mujhe diya gaya, who mujhe Bosco sir ne diya. Every person who is standing behind the camera is the real hero who builds whatever is happening in front of the camera,” Vicky remarked. He stressed that while actors are usually the face of a performance, their success is due to the hard work of many people behind the scenes.
Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz also stars Neha Dhupia and is co-produced by Anand, Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Amritpal Singh Bindra. The film is set to hit theatres on July 19.
