Bhumi Pednekar replaces Arjun Kapoor in ‘Bhakshak’, produced by Shah Rukh Khan

The film stars Bhumi Pednekar as a journalist who attempts to expose a heinous scam that is rampant in Bihar.

The arrest of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan in a narcotics investigation by the NCB has upset him, but he’s making sure it doesn’t disrupt the livelihoods of others who rely on his business as he confronts the situation head-on. Despite the fact that the superstar’s work is not a top priority right now, he has instructed his production firm, Red Chillies Entertainment, to keep working on it. The action entertainer directed by Atlee Kumar is being shot as planned, with SRK’s body double stepping in for him. Then there’s the pre-production for an as-yet-unannounced thriller, which we learned about today.

Red Chillies Entertainment is presently planning to embark on floors an investigative crime thriller titled Bhakshak, according to Peepingmoon.com. The film stars Bhumi Pednekar as a journalist who attempts to expose a heinous scam that is rampant in Bihar. Pulkit, who previously directed the Rajkummar Rao-led Bose: Dead or Alive series for Alt Balaji, will direct this real life story. The filmmaker, who also wrote the script, has been working on this project for for two years and expects to begin filming in January of next year.

Bhakshak is said to be based on the Muzaffarpur shelter home case from 2018, in which scores of vulnerable girls were allegedly abused, raped, and tortured. For months, 34 of the 42 confined detainees, ages seven to seventeen, were found to have been subjected to sexual and physical assault. The case’s horrible details sparked anger and nationwide protests, prompting the CBI to take up the investigation. The Delhi High Court convicted the main accused, Brajesh Thakur, to a life sentence in January 2020.

This is the same project that was previously in the works with Arjun Kapoor in the leading role. It was originally scheduled to start filming in March 2020, but was postponed indefinitely after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the country, halting all operations. Arjun reportedly dropped out of the film last year because to scheduling conflicts with his other projects. The lead cast’s gender is thought to have been changed, and the film is currently being made as a heroine-led thriller drama.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, Bhumi Pednekar is filming the last phase of Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan. By October 15, the Akshay Kumar starrer is said to be wrapped up.
