Diljit Dosanjh To Play Late IAF Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon In Border 2
In this sequel, he will play Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer to be posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Sekhon’s heroic actions during the war are legendary.
He defended the Srinagar air base against six Pakistan Air Force jets on December 14, 1971. It’s a role that demands deep respect, and Diljit is ready to bring this incredible story to life.
Diljit Will Begin His Shoot In April
Currently filming Sardaarji 3 in Scotland, Diljit will begin preparing for Border 2 by the end of March. A source told Mid-Day, “Diljit will join the Border 2 team in April. Anurag Singh, the director has designed a focused 20-day shoot schedule for him.”
The film will be shot in various locations. The Bombay Flying Club in Juhu will host some of the indoor scenes, while wide-angle shots will take place in Kashmir.
To ensure authenticity, the production will use replicas of the Folland Gnat fighter jets, and the Srinagar air base will be carefully recreated to honour Sekhon’s memory.
Though other cast details remain under wraps, it’s confirmed that Sunny Deol will return to his iconic role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, first made famous in the 1997 film Border.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 will highlight the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 war.
