Aamir Khan is making a big return to Bollywood, and he’s not holding back. After taking a break following the lukewarm response to Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, he’s now diving into six projects at once. But what pushed him to make this bold move?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aamir shared that he’s come to realise he needs to make the most of his remaining years in the industry.
Aamir Khan Reveals Taking 6 Projects Simultaneously
During the pandemic, Aamir seriously thought about leaving Bollywood for good. The long lockdown had him reflecting on his career, almost pushing him into early retirement. But it was his family who convinced him to reconsider.
Now, at 59, he believes he has about 10 active years left in him. “You can’t trust life; we might die tomorrow,” he said. This realisation made him take on multiple projects at once, which he never did before.
Known for being selective about his roles, Aamir usually takes on one project at a time. But he feels he can’t afford to be so cautious anymore. He’s determined to make these years count. “Till I am 70, I hope to stay well enough to be productive,” he shared.
However, his decision to pile on work hasn’t been without challenges. His ex-wife, Kiran Rao, even pointed out that Clint Eastwood is still working at 97. Aamir, however, remains realistic. “Clint Eastwood is one of those rare people who stay sharp into their 90s. I’m not sure if I’ll be the same,” he joked.

Beyond his acting plans, Aamir is also focusing on supporting fresh talent. He shared that one reason for taking on more projects is to help emerging writers and directors find their place in the industry. He wants to use his influence to uplift the next generation before he retires.
Aamir also opened up about his dreams of a quieter life. He recalled a fun family conversation where he hinted at retiring, but his daughter quickly shut down the idea, joking, “Please, papa, you can’t spend all your time with us; we will go crazy.”
Though the thought of reading books and practising yoga appeals to him, for now, Aamir is fully committed to making the most of his career comeback.
