Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi have joined Dharma Productions’ next comedy thriller. For Raj Mehta’s next film, Karan Johar has brought these two actors together for the first time. The untitled film is expected to be a full-fledged entertainer, with Akshay and Emraan squabbling over some misunderstandings. Only after Raj Mehta finishes his upcoming family drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor, is it expected to start shooting in the first quarter of 2022.

The Dharma Productions project is also a remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Driving License, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in prominent roles. Akshay Kumar will play a superstar in the film, while Emraan Hashmi will reprise his character as a motor vehicle inspector and the superstar’s passionate follower, which was played by Suraj in the first Lal Jr. flick. The film is based on a modest occurrence that becomes a massive ego clash between a superstar and his die-hard fan following a series of misunderstandings, and is described as a gripping drama on pride and pettiness, fandom and rage.
