Ahead of the Dussehra box office clash, Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video are gearing up for their releases on October 11. Both films, despite their different genres and themes, have gone through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process. Here’s a breakdown of their certification details.
Alia Bhatt Starrer Jigra Certified Without Any Cuts
Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated thriller Jigra has officially received a U/A certification from the CBFC, without a single scene cut. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film stars Bhatt and Vedang Raina and runs for 155 minutes, or 2 hours and 35 minutes.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the CBFC found no need for visual or audio cuts, even though the film features some intense, violent scenes. The only request made was to insert an anti-drug disclaimer in two scenes involving drug consumption, in line with regulations.
The absence of cuts shows the CBFC’s trust in Jigra‘s content, making it appropriate for a broad audience. Keeping the film untouched could raise anticipation, as fans look forward to its emotional and thrilling story about a sister fighting to free her wrongly imprisoned brother.
CBFC Censors Several Inappropriate Words In VVKWWV
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV), directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and starring Rajkummar Rao, Triptii Dimri, and Mallika Sherawat, has also secured a U/A certification.
While the film didn’t face any visual cuts, some audio modifications were necessary. Given its theme around an intimate video, the CBFC decided to mute or replace certain dialogues they deemed inappropriate for a family audience.
Some of the words and phrases that were censored include “Vakeel”, “Sardaar”, “UP Police”, and “Gurudwara”. The board also muted words like “Haramipana” and altered a line in the first half that originally contained an offensive term.
Additionally, an anti-smoking warning was inserted into a scene where a character is seen smoking, which is a standard requirement for films in India.
VVKWWV clocks in at 152 minutes and 5 seconds, just three minutes shorter than Jigra. Despite its sensitive subject matter, the film passed without much resistance from the CBFC, ensuring it remains intact for the audience.
Both films are expected to draw significant attention, especially with the intense competition looming over the Diwali box office clash featuring Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
