Chiyaan Vikram’s 2005 blockbuster Anniyan remains a fan favourite years after its release. Recently, rumours swirled about a Hindi remake of the film, with Ranveer Singh reportedly set to step into Vikram’s iconic role.
However, these plans were eventually shelved, leaving many wondering about Vikram’s thoughts on the situation.
Chiyaan Vikram REACTS To Reports Of Anniyan Remake
In a recent chat with DNA, Vikram addressed the buzz surrounding the potential remake. He candidly shared that he isn’t the right person to comment on the remake, suggesting that the film’s original director, Shankar, would be a better source for insights. “I think you should ask Shankar. He should have made part two with me,” Vikram said.
Despite the project being put on hold, Vikram expressed admiration for Ranveer Singh. He feels that Singh would have been a great fit for the role.
“On a serious note, I thought Ranveer would have made a nice Anniyan. I would like to see his version of it because I really like him as a star,” Vikram stated.
He also expressed curiosity about how Singh would have interpreted the character, adding, “I think it would have been interesting to see what he would do with the story.”
Vikram Showed Interest In Hindi Films During An Interview
In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, Vikram had discussed his interest in Hindi films. He mentioned that while he has been asked about working in Bollywood, he would only take on such projects if they allowed him the same creative freedom he enjoys in Tamil cinema.
“If there is a role like this that comes in Hindi, I would love to do that. Just waiting for that role. If it happens, it happens,” Vikram explained.
Currently, Vikram is focused on his upcoming projects. He is set to star in Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam and Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2.
