‘Anniyan,’ a remake of a Tamil film starring Ranveer Singh, has been generating interest since its announcement on social media. The producer of the Tamil film ‘Anniyan,’ Aascar Ravichandran, has filed a lawsuit in the High Court against director Shankar and producer Jayantilal Gaga over the remake of the film. He has already filed a complaint with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) against filmmaker Shankar.
Speaking to ETimes, Ravichandran said, “I am going to court against Shankar and Jayantilal Gada. They cannot make the film without my consent as I own the copyright of the film and no other person has the right over it as I am the author of the movie.”
Shankar had previously reacted to the producer’s complaint by claiming that ‘Anniyan’ was his script; Ravichandran retorted by saying that he can say anything he wants, but everyone knows that ‘Anniyan is my movie, and I hired him to direct the film.’
Ravichandran further indicated that he will file a case in the Madras High Court against Shankar and Jayantilal Gada. “SIFCC, which has been supporting me, told me to wait a little longer as they have spoken to the film association in Mumbai. It is not Shankar who is the producer of the film but Gadaji with whom I need to have a discussion about the project,” he added.
Furthermore, he stated that he first learned of the remake of his film when it was announced on social media. “I was shocked that without my knowledge, a remake of the film was announced,” he said.
