Actor Sunny Deol is bringing back one of his most iconic films. The 1996 action thriller Ghatak will return to cinemas on March 21, 2025, as part of the Red Lorry Film Festival.
Sunny Deol Starrer Ghatak Re-Releases Soon
The festival’s official Instagram page announced the news on Monday. They wrote, “Brace yourself for the return of a cult classic! GHATAK is hitting the big screen once again at the Red Lorry Film Festival. Relive the action on 21st March 2025 on the big screen.”
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Ghatak was a massive hit when it was released during Diwali in 1996. The film is still remembered for its intense action, powerful dialogues, and Sunny Deol’s unforgettable performance.
Fans also recall Amrish Puri’s menacing role as crime lord Kashi Nath, which became one of the film’s biggest highlights.
Sunny Deol Shared A Nostalgic Clip To Celebrate Its 28 Years
To celebrate 28 years of the film, Sunny shared a nostalgic video on Instagram. The clip featured some of Ghatak’s most memorable moments and paid tribute to Amrish Puri, whose villainous role made a lasting impact.
Sharing the video on Instagram, he wrote, “28 years of #Ghatak! My Diwali Release of 1996! Directed by #RajKumarSantoshi, Miss you #AmrishPuri Sahab.”
About Ghatak
The film also starred Meenakshi Seshadri and Danny Denzongpa in key roles. The story follows a man who travels to Mumbai from Banaras for his father’s treatment, only to find himself caught in a fight against a ruthless gangster who terrorises an entire colony. With its gripping plot and high-energy action, Ghatak became one of the most celebrated films of the ’90s.
The film’s music also remains popular and the song “Koi Jaye To Le Aaye” featuring Mamta Kulkarni still loved by fans.
