Actress Akansha Sharma, who has worked in the Kannada film industry and featured in some music videos, has reportedly bagged the lead role opposite Kartik Aaryan in the third installment of the popular musical franchise Aashiqui. The makers of the film, who are known for introducing fresh pairings in the series, have chosen Akansha as the new face to romance Kartik on screen.
Akansha’s journey from music videos to movies
Akansha Sharma started her career as a model and appeared in several commercials and print ads. She made her debut in the Kannada film industry with the movie Rangbirangi in 2017. She also featured in the music video of Disco Dancer 2.0 and Casanova with Tiger Shroff. She gained popularity with her appearance in the viral song Jugnu with Badshah. She has also been part of some web series and short films.
Kartik’s excitement for Aashiqui 3
Kartik Aaryan, who is one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood, announced his association with Aashiqui 3 in September 2022. He took to his Instagram account and shared a poster of the film with the caption, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum #Aashiqui3 This one is going to be Heart-wrenching !! My First with Basu Da”³. He also expressed his gratitude to work with director Anurag Basu and composer Pritam in an interview. He said, “The timeless classic ‘Aashiqui’ is something I grew up watching and working on Aashiqui 3 is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways.”

Aashiqui launched Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal to overnight fame. Aashiqui 2 relaunched Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor to stardom after their initial flops in past. Kartik is only known star to be part of this franchise which has history of chartbuster music.
Aashiqui 3 to go on floors soon
According to reports, the script of Aashiqui 3 is being finalised and the shooting is expected to start next year. The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Bhatt and Krishan Kumar under their banners T-Series and Vishesh Films. The film will also have music by Pritam, who has given some memorable songs for Anurag Basu’s films like Barfi, Jagga Jasoos and Ludo. The fans of the Aashiqui franchise are eagerly waiting for the third part, which promises to be a musical treat with a fresh and romantic story.
