One of the most sought-after films of 2026 just solidified another piece of its ensemble cast.
Deepika Padukone is now officially a member of the cast of King, a high-octane action drama directed by Siddharth Anand and starring Shah Rukh Khan. After much speculation and excitement, sources have confirmed Deepika is locked to play a significant role in the film, which is expected to shoot on May 18, 2025, in Mumbai.
Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures launched into production together, and an ensemble cast includes Suhana Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, and Abhishek Bachchan.
Deepika Padukone & SRK Reunite Again
Deepika’s casting in King represents another warm reunion with SRK after Pathaan, Chennai Express, and Om Shanti Om. Although she will not be a full-fledged lead this time around, she is expected to shoot the segments in a special extended cameo for 10–12 days. Described by sources, her cameo will be “powerful and emotionally layered”.
As per reports, Deepika is playing SRK’s former lover and Suhana Khan’s mother in the film—adding layers of richness and nostalgia to the story based on loss, legacy, and revenge.
Suhana Khan’s Film Debut
King will also mark the big screen debut of Suhana Khan, after her OTT project The Archies. Suhana will be on screen with her father in a hard-hitting action drama, and we will see her in a stylish, yet grounded character with some very intense dramatic scenes.
What We Know About King So Far
Directed by War and Pathaan’s Siddharth Anand, King is reportedly a gritty action film about a very skilled assassin (played by Shah Rukh Khan) who goes back to being violent after suffering a personal tragedy.
The film is rumoured to feature multiple international schedules, including shoots in India and Europe, balancing slick action sequences with strong emotional story arcs.
Anirudh Ravichander scores King, along with some extra songs added by Sachin-Jigar. Given Anand’s love of scale and spectacle, coupled with a cast of legacy and new talent, King is being positioned as perhaps a blockbuster.
Arshad Warsi & SRK Reunite After 20 Years
Just to add another layer of nostalgia, in King we also see Arshad Warsi, who last worked with SRK on Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye (2005).
