About Maa tujhhe Salaam (2002)

The film Maa Tujhhe Salaam also featured Arbaaz Khan and Tabu along with Sunny Deol. The plot revolves around Major Pratap Singh (Sunny Deol), who is posted in Kashmir and battles the foes from the other side of the border. Albaksh (Arbaaz Khan), an uneducated man living on the Indian side, serves Lala Sultan (Tinu Verma) faithfully. Lala, however, is in cahoots with Pakistan’s Gul Mastan (Sudesh Berry) and they want to free Kashmir from India. Albaksh abandons Lala when he discovers his anti-national activities. He suffers a lot for it and this is when Major Pratap Singh saves him. Tabu plays the role of Captain Sonia Khanna in the film.

Maa Tujhhe Salaam came out on January 25, 2002, a day before the Republic Day and about half a year after Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001). Hence, it enjoyed the advantage of its blockbuster success, patriotic spirit and good reviews. However, many criticized that Sunny Deol was absent in the middle of the film. Interestingly, Gadar 2 also faced the same problem and yet, it is breaking records.
