Deva: CBFC Cuts Lip Lock By 6 Seconds, Replaces Foul Language In Shahid Kapoor Starrer, Grants UA Certificate – Check Runtime

Deva has received a U/A certificate after CBFC made key changes, including shortening a lip-lock scene and replacing foul language.

Shahid Kapoor’s thriller Deva has officially received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, before the film was approved, it had to go through three key changes. These adjustments helped ensure the movie could be viewed by a larger audience.

Deva Gets UA Certificate After Three Major Adjustments

One of the major changes was reducing a lip lock scene by six seconds. The CBFC also asked for a modification of a “foul gesture” in the film. Additionally, several instances of strong language were replaced with milder terms. These changes were made in both the audio and subtitles.

The CBFC also requested clarification on references to Hutatma Chowk, a well-known location in Mumbai’s Fort area. After addressing these issues, Deva received its U/A certificate on December 30. The final runtime of the film is 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 59 seconds.

Interestingly, Deva follows a pattern seen in Shahid Kapoor’s recent films. Six of his last seven releases have had runtimes longer than 150 minutes.

Movies like Rangoon (2017), Kabir Singh (2019), Padmaavat (2018), and Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) were all over 2 hours and 40 minutes long. The only exception is Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which was 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Makers Have Shot 3 Climaxes For Suspense

Deva has filmed three different endings, each with a different killer. This was done to keep the mystery intact and maintain suspense until the end. A source revealed that only a few people know which version will be used in the final cut.

This secrecy is part of a larger effort to prevent leaks. Shahid Kapoor, director Rosshan Andrrews, and other key members of the team have worked to ensure that the plot remains hidden. Even the technicians involved in post-production, such as those working on colour correction and digital effects, were kept in the dark and worked on all three versions. This secrecy is meant to add to the suspense and thrill of the film.

About Deva

Deva also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana, and Kubbra Sait. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Umesh K. R. Bansal, the film will hit cinemas on January 31. Fans can expect a thrilling experience that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
