Dhadak 2: CBFC Certification For Siddhant Chaturvedi And Triptii Dimri’s Film Delayed – Will It Still Release On March 14?

Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri faces a delay in CBFC certification, putting its March 14 release at risk.

The much-anticipated Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri has hit a roadblock ahead of its scheduled release. With just weeks to go before its planned March 14 premiere, the film is reportedly stuck in the certification process at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

This delay has also kept the film’s promotions on hold, raising concerns about whether it will make it to cinemas on time.

Why Is Dhadak 2 Stuck At CBFC?

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Dhadak 2 explores caste issues and delivers a hard-hitting narrative. The CBFC Examining Committee has reportedly praised the makers for tackling such a bold subject. However, they are debating the film’s certification and potential edits.

A source close to the matter revealed, “Due to its content, the board is discussing what rating should be given to the film and if any cuts are needed.”

Makers To Confirm Release & Begin Promotions Only After Clearance

Industry insiders suggest that the film’s makers are waiting for CBFC clearance before launching their promotional campaign.

A trade expert explained, “They want to ensure the censor process is completed before officially locking the release date. If they get the certification soon, they might still make it to March 14. Otherwise, the film could be postponed.” A final decision is expected within the next 5–10 days.

The controversy has surprised many in the industry, especially since Dhadak 2 is based on the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018), which faced no censorship issues. A source questioned, “If the original film didn’t have trouble with the censors, why is Dhadak 2 being scrutinised?”

Former CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani also weighed in on the matter, suggesting that censorship rules in Mumbai differ from the South.

He stated, “South mein kuch bhi pass ho jaata hai. Even films with excessive violence get a U/A rating. In Mumbai, many CBFC members have political affiliations, which makes the process stricter.”

Will Dhadak 2 Avoid Clash With John Abraham’s The Diplomat?

Meanwhile, John Abraham’s The Diplomat has shifted its release date to March 14, leading to speculation about a potential clash with Dhadak 2.

If the film clears certification in time, audiences could witness an exciting box office showdown this Holi. However, if the delay continues, the makers may be forced to push the release date.
