The much-awaited magnum opus Ramayana, seems to be facing some scheduling issues. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the role of Lord Rama in the film, is reportedly planning to reshuffle his dates. According to the latest reports, the actor may prioritize Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s next project, Love and War, over the second part of the mythological epic.
It was initially planned that Ranbir would wrap up the shoot for Ramayana first and then move on to the other project. However, the filming of the Nitesh Tiwari directorial is taking longer than expected. This delay has forced the actor to reconsider his schedule and allocate his dates to Bhansali’s film.
Prioritizing Love And War
Sources close to the development have revealed that Ranbir Kapoor had intended to complete both parts of Ramayana before starting Love and War. But since the shoot of the epic saga is progressing slowly, he does not want to keep Bhansali waiting. The director’s project is showing no signs of progressing as per the original timeline, which has left the actor with no choice.
This decision means that the release of Ramayana Part 2 might get pushed further. It was earlier aiming for a release by the end of 2027, but with the dates now being given to another film, a delay seems inevitable. This news might disappoint fans who were eagerly waiting to see the complete story unfold on the big screen soon.
A Stellar Cast
Ramayana has been making headlines ever since its announcement. The film features a massive ensemble cast with Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. It also stars Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Arun Govil in key roles. The music is composed by the legendary duo of AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
On the other hand, Love and War is an action romantic drama that brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The film is eyeing a theatrical release on August 14, 2026. It marks the reunion of Ranbir and Bhansali after their debut film Saawariya.
