Two of the latest Bollywood movies, Oh My God 2 and Gadar 2, have been smashing the box office records since their release on August 11. The Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam starrer has found its own loyal fans despite competing with the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel film. The movie has collected Rs 85 crore in its first week of running. Meanwhile, a tweet by director Anil Sharma is creating a buzz on social media.
Akshay Kumar grateful for OhMyGadar’s record-breaking love
The audience showered their love and support on both OMG 2 and Gadar 2, which released simultaneously and starred Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol respectively. The two films created history by earning a combined total of over ₹ 340 crore in the first six days. Akshay Kumar took to his social media to thank the audience and also shared a clip of him singing Udd Ja Kale Kawa from Gadar 2 in OMG 2.
Anil Sharma Likes Tweet Criticizing OMG 2
As both films receive praise and awards, a tweet that Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma liked about Akshay Kumar is creating a sensation. The tweet said,Congrats Akki sir but you have literally denied #Gadar2 many records by splitting screens and making use of overflows… Still Congrats.”

The tweet came to the notice of Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma, who re-tweeted it and added a couple of hand-fold emojis to the caption. The filmmaker’s response sparked a mixed reaction from netizens, who had different opinions on the matter.
Netizens Reaction
Commenting on the Reddit post, a user wrote, “Trying to make ohmygadar2 a thing like barbenheimer here, when the actors/directors have egos the size of mountain is laughable.”
While another wrote, “Just one movie of this flop director gets hit and he is on cloud 9 suddenly.” A third one said, “Kya matlab Vivek Agnihotri regenerate ho raha hai?”
Another one commented, “If OMG2 didn’t get A rating it would’ve actually impacted Gadar2. Next why should akshay have given up on independence day weekend for Gadar2 ?? Since when are we giving Sunny deol open long weekends? This is just petty nonsense. Why is this weirdo even going in akshays replies to quote shit.”
Sunny Deol’s Misquote: Lagaan and Gadar Box Office Comparison
In a recent appearance on Sudhir Chaudhary’s show, Sunny Deol was unfortunately off the mark with his statement about the box office performance of the iconic films Lagaan and Gadar. He misquoted the figures, claiming that “Lagaan did 2-5% business of Gadar.” However, the actual facts paint a different picture. Lagaan, starring Aamir Khan, managed to accumulate 35.50 crore rupees, while Gadar, headlined by Sunny Deol himself, raked in 74.88 crore rupees. This comparison indicates that Lagaan’s earnings were almost 47% of Gadar’s business, a far cry from the 2-5% range mentioned by Deol. This serves as a reminder of the importance of accurate information, especially when it comes to historical records and comparisons in the world of cinema.
