Farhan Akhtar is one of the most talented artists in Bollywood. He is a writer, actor, director, and musician with a proven and successful track record. As a filmmaker, he has delivered some of the most acclaimed films of Bollywood. One of the most talked about franchises of his career is the Don series. For years, fans were waiting for him to come up with Don 3.
Yesterday the wait came to a halt after Farhan took to social media to announce the project. Today, the makers have dropped an exciting video, introducing Ranveer Singh as the Don of a new generation in Don 3. The around two-minute long video features Ranveer reciting some really cool lines about the persona of Don and how powerful and charismatic he is. The video ends with “2025”, signifying the release year of the much-awaited film.

Farhan Akhtar Issued A Clarification After Backlash
Yesterday, Farhan took to social media to unveil the logo of Don 3. The 35-second video showcases the number 3 which is accompanied by hypnotic music. During the logo unveils, a text appears that says, “A New Era Begins.” Since the video dropped, it has received all kinds of reactions from SRK’s Don. Particularly some backlash from people who were unhappy with the decision of replacing SRK with Ranveer.
Later, Farhan shared a long note, talking about Shah Rukh Khan and the legacy of the Don franchise. Farhan started his note by writing about the original 1978 Don starring Amitabh Bachchan which was written by Salim-Javed. He then wrote about his own 2006 film, and reimagining the classic with Shah Rukh Khan. He then wrote, “The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space.”
About The Don Franchise
In 2006, Farhan Akhtar came up with the action thriller Don, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani. The film was an official remake of the namesake 1978 film starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film was a critical and commercial success and was followed by a sequel titled Don 2 which was released on 23 December 2011. However, now Shah Rukh Khan will be replaced by Ranveer Singh in the third installment which will release in 2025.
