Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai which was a critical success. It was followed by Lakshya and Shah Rukh Khan’s Don. The latter was a major success and was followed by a sequel. After that, fans had to wait for years for any news on Don 3. Yesterday, that wait got over after Farhan unveiled the film’s logo and issued a statement on the project.
Now, it’s official that Ranveer Singh has replaced Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3 as the makers dropped a video today. Amid the news of Ranveer playing the titular character who has been doing the round, there has been a question about who will be playing the lead opposite him.
Kiara Advani To Play Female Lead In Don 3
According to media reports, Kiara Advani will step into the shoes of Priyanka Chopra in the third installment. The speculation comes from the fact that Kiara was recently seen visiting Excel Entertainment’s office and it has come to light that Farhan narrated her the story and she has given it a nod. While she won’t be playing Roma, her character will have grey shades. The shooting is slated to commence in the middle of 2024 and the film will release theatrically in 2025.
First Look of Ranveer Singh As Don Is Out
Today, the makers of Don 3 released an around two-minute-long video, unveiling the first look of Ranveer Singh as a new-generation don. The video features a dapper-looking Ranveer smoking a cigarette and reciting some really cool lines about the persona of Don and how powerful and charismatic he is. The video ends with “2025”, signifying the release year of the much-awaited film. So far, the video has been well received by fans on the internet.
Farhan Akhtar Issued A Statement On Don 3 After Backlash
Yesterday, Farhan unveiled the logo of Don 3. It featured the number three of Don 3, accompanied by a hypnotic piece of music. Right after that, fans slammed the makers for replacing Shah Rukh Khan with Ranveer Singh. Eventually later in the day, Farhan issued a statement. In it, he talked about the original 1978 Don starring Amitabh Bachchan which was written by Salim-Javed. He then wrote about his own 2006 film, and reimagining the classic with Shah Rukh Khan.
Farhan concluded, “The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space.”
