Vijay Salgaonkar’s silence is ready to echo again in cinemas. Drishyam 3, headlined by Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has wrapped its shoot and moved into post production, marking a major step forward for one of Hindi cinema’s most watched thriller franchises.
The update has landed at a time when the Drishyam universe is already back in conversation. The Malayalam original, led by Mohanlal, released on May 21, 2026, while the Hindi version is now moving toward its confirmed theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
Drishyam 3 Shoot Wrap Confirmed
Director Abhishek Pathak shared behind the scenes glimpses from the set on social media and confirmed that he has completed shooting the franchise film. The team had earlier shared that the main shoot was finished, with only patchwork being completed before the film heads fully into its final finishing stage.
Speaking earlier, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak and filmmaker Abhishek Pathak said, “We are currently working on some patchwork and will release it on October 2. There’s a lot of excitement around the film. What people are seeing right now in Malayalam Drishyam is different.”
Abhishek also underlined that the Hindi film has been shaped with a distinct tonal identity. He said, “For the Hindi audience, I have created a completely different track that will work beautifully here. The Malayalam version focuses more on family drama, while the Hindi version will lean more towards a family thriller. That’s the fabric of the film. When the trailer releases, audiences will see how different the two worlds are.”
What Drishyam 3 Brings Back To The Franchise
Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak and stars Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor and Mrunal Jadhav returning to the franchise. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj have also joined the cast. The film is backed by Panorama Studios in association with Star Studios and is positioned as a Hindi crime drama thriller.
The story continues to follow the Salgaonkar family, whose lives remain tied to a buried crime and the consequences of protecting a dangerous secret. In the Hindi version, the makers are leaning into a family thriller space, with Vijay’s instincts once again expected to drive the tension.
The Hindi franchise began with Drishyam in 2015, directed by Nishikant Kamat. Abhishek Pathak took over with Drishyam 2 in 2022, which emerged as a major box office blockbuster and strengthened the property’s standing in Bollywood’s thriller landscape.
Ajay Devgn’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Ajay Devgn has had a packed recent run across genres. In 2024, he appeared in Maidaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Singham Again and Naam. His 2025 slate included Raid 2, Son of Sardaar 2 and De De Pyaar De 2, while he also made an extended appearance in Azaad.
After June 2026, Devgn’s confirmed theatrical lineup includes Drishyam 3 on October 2, 2026, followed by Ranger, which is expected to release on December 4, 2026. With Drishyam 3, he returns to one of his most enduring screen identities, a calm family man whose mind is always several moves ahead.
