Shah Rukh Khan himself choreographed the famous basketball scene in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani reveals some interesting details!

Did you know that Shah Rukh Khan himself choreographed the popular basketball scene in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Nikkhil Advani, who was an assistant director for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, recently revealed some fascinating insights about the ‘King of Romance’. Despite his title, SRK has a unique perspective on romantic films.

Shah Rukh Khan Had Different Plans In Mind For His Entry Scene In K3G

In a recent chat on Cyrus Says’ YouTube channel, Advani shared an amusing anecdote about Shah Rukh’s iconic entry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Fans remember the grand helicopter scene, but it turns out Khan was initially disappointed with how it played out. He thought he would be jumping out of the helicopter to meet his mother in the film. Instead, he simply stepped down from it. This misunderstanding left him feeling let down, as he had a more dramatic vision for his entrance.

Advani explained, “When we told him that his entry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is with the helicopter, he thought he was going to jump off the helicopter, while he just had to step down. The scene was more about Jaya Bachchan, as she gets to know about the arrival of her son as soon as he touches the ground.” This insight highlights the actor’s desire for an impactful performance, even in how he made his entrance.

Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic roles have established his status in Bollywood, with films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Mohabbatein playing pivotal roles in his career. Despite this, Nikkhil Advani revealed that Khan often expressed a desire to explore different genres. Surprisingly, he didn’t enjoy love stories as much as fans might think. He hated them!

Superstar Himself Choreographed The Popular Basketball Scene In KKHH

Advani also shared another memorable moment from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He revealed that SRK took it upon himself to choreograph the basketball scene where Rahul and Anjali are introduced. “In the beginning of the film, he gets credit for thrills. It is because he treated the basketball sequence in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai like an action scene. He choreographed it,” Advani said.

As for his upcoming projects, Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. This film is particularly special, as it marks the first time he will share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan. Fans are excited to see how this father-daughter duo will shine together on screen.

The shoot is expected to start in January 2025.
