Actress Pooja Hegde is set to replace Sreeleela as the second female lead opposite Varun Dhawan in David Dhawan‘s next film. Initial reports had suggested that Sreeleela, known for her work in South Indian cinema, would make her Hindi debut with this project.
However, sources now confirm that Pooja has officially been brought on board, marking her first collaboration with Varun Dhawan.

When contacted for a comment, Pooja shared her excitement with ETimes, stating, “I have a bunch of announcements coming. I just let the production house announce it. Going ahead, you are going to see me in different roles. This year, I decided to take a step back, watch my entire filmography, and decide what I want to do next.”
This upcoming project will also feature Mrunal Thakur and highlights the much-anticipated reunion of father-son duo Varun and David Dhawan after a decade.
Pooja has been reflecting on her career and the path that led her to this point. In a previous interview, she expressed, “I’ve taken moments to reflect on my journey. With my relentless work ethic, I often find myself moving from one project to the next, keeping busy. However, when I do pause and cast a glance back at my career, it’s a humbling realisation. Not bad for a shy, introverted girl with stage fright and no connections in the film industry.”
She added, “ I didn’t have a godfather to pave the way, but it seems the universe had its own plans. There’s still a long road ahead, with a list of esteemed filmmakers I aspire to collaborate with, characters I’m eager to portray and plenty yet to prove.”
Varun Dhawan & Team To Shoot 2nd Schedule From Next Month
Originally, Varun was expected to begin filming the second schedule of the project this month. However, due to his father David Dhawan’s health issues, the schedule has been pushed back to November. This delay highlights the importance of family support, particularly in the film industry.
Reportedly, the film has been titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. An official announcement on this project is yet to happen!
