In unfortunate news for fans of Emraan Hashmi and Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan, the vacant set of their anticipated film OG has come to a halt.
The Bollywood actor and contemporary star of Telugu cinema, Emraan Hashmi, plays the antagonist in the Sujeeth-directed action film. However, Emraan has been diagnosed with dengue.
Emraan Hashmi Tests Positive For Dengue While Filming OG
A source from the production revealed that Emraan contracted the disease whilst shooting in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, Mumbai.
“He wasn’t feeling well and had symptoms similar to dengue. He had tests conducted upon his doctor’s advice, and it was confirmed he had dengue,” said the source.
He is currently recovering at home.
“He has been advised complete rest for at least a week,” said the insider.
Emraan immediately informed the makers of OG about his condition and expressed that he was sorry for missing the shoot. The producers were very understanding and put his health first and foremost over their schedules.
OG: Emraan Hashmi’s High-Energy Telugu Debut
OG represents a milestone in Emraan Hashmi‘s film career, being his debut in Telugu cinema.
Pawan Kalyan plays the lead role, while Priyanka Mohan plays the female lead, and Emraan plays the lead villain for high-voltage action on screen.
OG is directed by Sujeeth (who is also known for Saaho) and was produced by DVV Entertainment (famous for RRR). OG is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 25, 2025.
With Hashmi temporarily out of action, it is likely that the makers can change the shooting schedule to continue filming the other sequences that don’t involve Hashmi, but they are waiting on an official update.
Production Team Responds with Kindness
Even though he is one of OG‘s key players, Emraan’s professionalism shone through.
An insider said, “He didn’t want the production team to be shocked. That is why he communicated as soon as he had the test results.”
The production team are known for making large and elaborate productions, and they showed support toward the actor without any concerns. They don’t expect any of the planned production timeline to become delayed.
