Shah Rukh Khan has been creating a lot of buzz with his upcoming film Jawan, directed by Atlee. The film, which also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Sanya Malhotra, is slated to release on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film’s prevue and songs have already received a lot of love from the fans, who are eagerly waiting for the second trailer.
Recently, Shah Rukh Khan surprised his fans by dropping a teaser of a new song from the film, titled Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya. The song is a remake of the iconic song Ramaiya Vastavaiya from Raj Kapoor’s Shree 420, which was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh.
Now we have exclusively learnt that this new version of the song has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Anirudh and Shilpa Rao.

The teaser of the song, which is 12 seconds long, shows Shah Rukh Khan in an all-black outfit, dancing his heart out in his signature style. The song has an infectious beat and catchy lyrics, which mention SRK’s iconic number Chaiya Chaiya from Dil Se. The teaser ends with the catchphrase ‘Pehle kiya chaiya chaiya, ab karunga tha tha thaiya on’.
Shah Rukh Khan shared the teaser on his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, “Ok guys time to go make the trailer as everyone wants that. @TSeries & @anirudhofficial & @Atlee_dir had wanted to put out song. Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya is the third song to be released from Jawan, after Zinda Banda and Chaleya. The latter is a romantic song featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, which has been sung by Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao. The songs have been well-received by the audience and have crossed millions of views on YouTube.
Anirudh on composing the songs for Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Jawan’
Anirudh Ravichander, who is one of the most popular music composers in South India, has made his Bollywood debut with Jawan. He has composed all the songs for the film in three languages. He has also lent his voice for Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya.
Speaking about working in Jawan, Anirudh, in a statement, said, “Vandha Edam holds a special place in my heart as it marks the first track I composed for the film. It’s also my first time composing for Shah Rukh Khan, who is synonymous with featuring in iconic songs of our generation, and I was determined to do justice to his stardom.
Working with such a talented cast and crew was truly amazing, witnessing their dedication and hard work in mounting this song on such a grand scale has been inspiring. It’s been a challenging and a creatively fulfilling journey, creating the album for this film across three languages. I hope that people enjoy the music of Jawan as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
Shilpa Rao on singing two songs in Jawan
Shilpa Rao in a recent interview had teased that there is one more song in the album that she has sung for. “There is one more song that will be out soon, but yeah, we are waiting for that,” she said. And now we know which song.
She had also revealed how Shah Rukh Khan had personally approached her to sing Chaleya for Jawan. “So Shah Rukh’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, had called me to do the song and that itself was a big compliment that he wanted me to do the song. I was recording with Anirudh, it was such a beautiful recording with him. He had heard the song, and he said, ‘Yeah, this is great, and this is what it’s going to be. The whole point that he called me for this song was a big, big compliment in itself,” she revealed.
Reacting to the response to the song, Shilpa added, “I think it’s been tremendous because people are really attaching themselves to it. The composition and the words also. So I think what Anirudh and Kumar have created is really touching people’s hearts, and I’m very, very happy to see that.”
