‘Failed Attempt To Become Zendaya’! Netizens Unimpressed With Deepika Padukone’s Look In Kalki 2898 AD Poster

In Kalki 2898 AD poster, Deepika Padukone's look has sparked comparisons to Zendaya's Dune character with netizens trolling it.

Nag Ashwin’s upcoming sci-fi extravaganza, Kalki 2898 AD, has set the anticipation bar high among movie buffs. Recently, the makers dropped a bombshell by revealing the film’s new release date along with a poster featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan.

However, what caught the attention of many wasn’t just the release date but Deepika Padukone’s striking appearance in the poster. With her short untied hair and donning a brown outfit, she bore a resemblance to Zendaya’s character in the recent sci-fi hit, Dune.

Deepika Padukone Or Zendaya From Dune?

The comparison quickly sparked discussions across social media platforms, with users pointing out the similarities between Deepika’s look and Zendaya’s portrayal of Chani in Dune.

One user commented, “Why does Deepika’s character look so much like Zendaya’s character from Dune?” while another expressed, “Deepika is giving off Zendaya vibes from Dune.” Some even jokingly referred to Deepika as the “poor man’s Zendaya.”

A fan page posted pictures of Deepika’s character from Kalki 2898 AD, which sparked further comparisons to Zendaya’s look in Dune. One person firmly stated, “1st one is Zendaya, not Deepika, please!” Meanwhile, another user introduced the term “Zendayafication” to describe how Deepika resembled Zendaya in the poster.

About Kalki 2898 AD

Kalki 2898 AD also features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in important roles. The movie’s release date has been rescheduled to 27th June. In the new poster, Deepika, Prabhas, and Amitabh are seen standing together against a vast desert-like backdrop. The caption reads, “All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on 27-06-2024.”

Previously, Nag Ashwin discussed the film’s inspiration during the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon. He mentioned, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds imagining it like Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.”

While the film has received enough criticism just with the release of its poster, it would be interesting to see how netizens react to the trailer of the film.
