Reports claiming that Nayanthara received a Rs 5 crore legal notice from the makers of Chandramukhi have been debunked. This confusion followed a similar situation earlier this year when actor Dhanush sent a Rs 10 crore notice to Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan for using footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their Netflix documentary. However, Sivaji Productions, the producers of Chandramukhi, have now clarified the matter.
Chandramukhi Producerd Dismiss The Rumours
Sivaji Productions confirmed that they had no issue with Nayanthara using footage from the 2005 film Chandramukhi in her documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The production house shared an official statement, revealing that Nayanthara had received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to use the footage.
The certificate has been posted online and reads, “This is to certify that Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following footage in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.”
It also made clear that they would not hold Nayanthara’s production company, Rowdy Pictures, responsible for any disputes related to the footage.
This clarification is a relief to Nayanthara, who has recently faced public legal challenges. Earlier this year, she was embroiled in a legal dispute with Dhanush, who had sent a notice over the use of footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in Nayanthara’s wedding documentary. This led Nayanthara to respond publicly in an open letter.
What Nayanthara Said About The Controversy With Dhanush
In the open letter, Nayanthara addressed Dhanush’s accusations. She wrote, “It’s almost been 10 years since the release of the film and it is a long time for someone to continue to be this vile while wearing a mask in front of the world. I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Nayanthara explained her side of the story. “The controversy happened because I spoke out and I wanted to speak in public. Because I personally and genuinely tried to reach out to him so that I can have a direct answer (as to) why and what’s the issue,” she said.
The actress added that her attempts to reach Dhanush had failed, leading her to address the matter on social media.
