Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut’s 2008 film Fashion was loved by many and now it will hopefully get a sequel. Some interesting details about the same are out now.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar delighted his fans in 2022 with two back-to-back OTT releases. He brought the Tamannaah Bhatia starrer Babli Bouncer and the gripping drama thriller India Lockdown to the screens.
Though he has been out of the spotlight for a while, Bollywood Hungama reports that he is now preparing for his next major project. This time, Bhandarkar is revisiting one of his most beloved films: Fashion.
Script Of Priyanka Chopra-Kangana Ranaut’s Fashion Sequel In Work
A source close to the project revealed, “Madhur Bhandarkar is working on the script of the sequel. It would be based on the current times and would throw light on changes in the fashion industry. The first part was released 16 years ago and since then, the industry has transformed. Madhur wants to throw light on these aspects in his style while also telling a compelling story.”
The sequel is said to explore the dramatic shifts in the fashion world over the past 16 years. In terms of production, Bhandarkar has options.
The source disclosed, “He is already in touch with a studio that is willing to produce Fashion 2. However, at the same time, an OTT platform has reached out to him and shown interest in the sequel. But they wish to have it as a series.”

Bhandarkar faces a pivotal decision: Should Fashion 2 be a film or a web series? The source added, “Hence, Madhur Bhandarkar is now mulling whether the sequel to Fashion should be a film or a web series. He is expected to take a call in a couple of weeks. After that, he’ll start the process of signing actors.”

The original Fashion, released during Diwali 2008, was praised for its writing, direction, performances, and soulful music score by Salim-Sulaiman. It featured a talented ensemble cast, including Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Samir Soni, Arbaaz Khan, and Chitrashi Rawat. The film’s realistic portrayal of the fashion industry’s highs and lows resonated with audiences and critics alike.
It captivated audiences with its portrayal of the rise and fall of supermodels. Priyanka Chopra played Meghna Mathur, a small-town girl who became a supermodel only to see her life take a dark turn. Kangana Ranaut portrayed Shonali Gujral, a top model whose career spiralled downward. Both actresses earned National Awards for their performances, with Chopra winning Best Actress and Ranaut taking Best Supporting Actress.
