Alia Bhatt and her love interest Shantanu Maheshwari were to have a love-making sequence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s narrative of a female mobster Gangubai Kathiawadi. In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, a poignant love scene between Alia Bhatt and her on-screen lover is likely to be cut from the script.
The reason for this is the strict social distance restrictions in place during the current pandemic. Because physical closeness has become the new norm, Bhansali has opted to cut a tender love scene between Alia Bhatt and her love interest, played by dancer-turned-actor Shantanu Maheshwari.
An informed source revealed, “I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry in these troubled times. Physical intimacy would definitely be avoided in Bhansali’s shooting. He will find another way of showing a romantic closeness.”
Gangubai Kathiawadi has been in the news since its announcement, and the Bombay High Court recently granted an interim stay on the defamation allegations brought against SLB and Alia. In terms of its release, Alia Bhatt recently concluded filming for it; nevertheless, the film’s producers have decided to release Gangubai Kathiawadi when theatres reopen following the pandemic.
