Weeks after gunfire was reported outside the filmmaker’s Juhu residence, Shetty is moving ahead with the next chapter of his blockbuster comedy franchise, with Golmaal 5 set to roll at Mumbai’s Film City this week. The timing makes the start of production feel doubly charged, as the team balances the familiar madness of the series with a more serious emphasis on safety.
The firing incident outside Shetty’s home has been under active investigation, with Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch probing the case. Reports on the investigation have stated that no injuries were reported, and that forensic teams were deployed at the spot while CCTV footage from the area was checked as part of the probe.
Golmaal 5 Goes On Floors This Week At Film City
The big update is that Golmaal 5 is starting shoot at Film City, with Ajay Devgn returning to lead the franchise as Gopal. The fifth instalment is expected to bring back several familiar faces from the Golmaal universe including Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Shreyas Talpade, along with regular supporting players associated with the franchise such as Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar.
In the aftermath of the Juhu firing case, the production has also been linked to a tightened security plan for the Film City schedule, with reports indicating a larger security deployment and a layered arrangement involving police presence alongside the director’s private security.
While casting continues to generate chatter online, one addition doing the rounds in multiple reports is Akshay Kumar, said to be joining the film and expected to play an antagonist. As of now, there has been no official announcement from the makers confirming the full principal cast list or character details.
