Emraan Hashmi returns in uniform as he gears up for his latest role of BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey in Ground Zero. The trailer dropped recently and offered high-octane action, heavy emotions, and a dash of patriotism. The war drama arrives in cinemas on April 25 and draws from real-life events in Kashmir.
Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar directs the film, while Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Srivastava have penned the script. The cast includes Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Lalit Prabhakar, Deepak Parmesh, Rockey Raina, and Rahul Vohra. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produced the film under their banner.
What’s In Ground Zero Trailer?
The story of this film takes place in 2001. Emraan’s character arrives in Kashmir as the army struggles to tackle growing militancy. While the army uses guns, he wants to use ideas. He believes in changing minds rather than just fighting enemies. But the mission takes a darker turn with the looming threat of a terrorist named Ghazi.
The trailer opens with intense visuals of militants firing bullets, young boys with guns, and walls soaked in slogans and blood. One of them reads, “Tujhe laayi yaha teri maut fauji, Kashmir ka badla lega yeh Ghazi.” This line sets the tone for a high-stakes conflict filled with danger and defiance.
Trailer Review
Well, the trailer doesn’t break new ground. It relies on a tried-and-tested formula – lone hero, patriotic speeches, emotional breakdowns, and loud gunfire. Viewers have seen this pattern in several war dramas. The style feels familiar, even predictable.
The portrayal of Kashmir also feels a bit surface-level. While the trailer hints at complex issues, it doesn’t fully explore them. The conflict seems reduced to a basic good-versus-evil narrative, which may not sit well with everyone.
The action packs a punch, but the trailer’s editing feels rushed. Scene transitions feel sharp and sudden. The background music often overpowers the dialogue. This could hurt the emotional grip the film tries to create.
For the unversed, Ground Zero is based on a real BSF operation that led to the killing of Ghazi Baba—the mastermind of the 2001 Parliament attack and a senior Jaish-e-Mohammed leader. The BSF gunned him down in 2004.
Right now, the trailer feels like a mixed bag. It brings action and emotion but lacks subtlety. Whether the film can deliver a fresh take or just another loud war saga remains to be seen on release day.
