The long-awaited biopic about Gulshan Kumar, the legendary music mogul and founder of T-Series, is back on track. Bhushan Kumar, his son and the current head of T-Series, is reviving Mogul, a project that has faced many ups and downs since it was first announced in 2017.
Bhushan Kumar Set To Revive Gulshan Kumar Biopic Mogul
According to a Peeping Moon report, Bhushan Kumar is determined to finally tell his father’s inspiring story on the big screen. After several failed attempts to kick off the project, he is reassembling the film from scratch.
Although there isn’t a set timeline for when production will start, this biopic has now become a top priority for T-Series.
Subhash Kapoor NOT Directing The Film
Initially, Subhash Kapoor was set to direct Mogul, but he is no longer attached to the project. The script is also undergoing significant changes.
A new team of writers has been brought on board to reshape the narrative, which suggests that Bhushan is serious about doing justice to his father’s remarkable life.
Ranbir Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana & Varun Dhawan Are Top Contenders To Play The Lead
While the film is still in the scripting phase, insiders have shared that Bhushan Kumar is already in talks with Ranbir Kapoor to take on the lead role.
Ranbir, known for his roles in films like Brahmastra, has shown interest in the project. However, his busy schedule, which is packed until 2026, could pose a challenge. Despite this, Bhushan is eager to have Ranbir on board.
If Ranbir ultimately decides to pass on the role, Bhushan has his eyes on two other popular actors: Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan.
Gulshan Kumar Biopic Initially Supposed To Be Made With Akshay Kumar
The journey of the Mogul biopic has been rocky from the start. It was initially announced in March 2017 with Akshay Kumar set to star under the direction of Subhash Kapoor. However, Akshay left the project due to creative differences.
A year later, Aamir Khan came on as both the star and co-producer. Unfortunately, Aamir stepped back after facing allegations against Kapoor during the #MeToo movement.
Although he briefly returned to the project, his priorities shifted after the disappointing performance of Laal Singh Chaddha, leading him to take a break from films. This left Mogul in limbo yet again.
Now, with a renewed focus and fresh plans in place, Bhushan Kumar is determined to bring his father’s extraordinary story to life.
As the project evolves, fans are eager to see who will ultimately land the lead role. Will it be Ranbir Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, or Varun Dhawan? Only time will tell.
