Double Trouble? Sajid Nadiadwala Submits Two Versions Of Akshay Kumar-Led Housefull 5 To CBFC

Sajid Nadiadwala stuns industry watchers by submitting two versions of Housefull 5 to the CBFC, both now certified U/A. The film, led by Akshay Kumar, is set for a June 6 release.

In a decision that is both exciting and baffling to both fans and critics, Sajid Nadiadwala has submitted two versions of Housefull 5 to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which has never been done before in the comedy genre.

It sounds like something peculiar is cooking behind the scenes of Bollywood’s largest ensemble film of 2025!

Two Censor Certificates? Nadiadwala Leaves Us Guessing!

As per sources close to the action, both versions of the film have been certified as U/A. The film’s branded approach to this is being kept under lock and key, but sources closely involved with the film ascertain it has to do with the film’s experimental storytelling and the fact that Sajid Nadiadwala, as the producer, also wrote the story and screenplay.

Housefull 5 may actually be the rarest of rare case of a movie with two censor certificates, and there is a reason for this, which will be revealed shortly,” says an insider.

This peculiar censor twist adds another layer of excitement to an already ambitious comic thriller that promises to be something that the franchise has never done!

24 Actors = Plentiful Confusion & 2 Hours and 43 Minutes in Length

The runtime for Housefull 5 is an enormous 2 hours and 43 minutes — the longest in the franchise — so with 24 actors in the main cast, combined with a narrative stuffed full of suspense, mistaken identity, and “killer comedy”, it’s very plausible that we will see multiple versions as part of a larger narrative engine.

Sequels with an established character base have always managed with confusion and chaos, and clearly Housefull is upping its DNA a notch higher with its fifth film. Teaser clips, the viral sensation ‘Laal Paari’ and now the CBFC twist have all been part of an enormous pre-promotional build-up, leading towards an even bigger promotional moment.

Who’s in the Mega Comedy Cruise?

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani (think 2008’s Dostana), Housefull 5 features:

  • Akshay Kumar
  • Riteish Deshmukh
  • Abhishek Bachchan
  • Sanjay Dutt
  • Nana Patekar
  • Jacqueline Fernandez
  • Sonam Bajwa
  • Nargis Fakhri
  • Fardeen Khan

…and featuring Johnny Lever, Chunky Panday, Shreyas Talpade, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, and others — all in all, 24 characters!

Trailer Coming May 27

With the theatrical release date advancing closer to June 6, 2025, it’s now all eyes on May 27, when likely the very first trailer will make its debut.

The trailer is likely to provide a certain extent of additional details on the dual-narrative gimmick — or possibly, leave fans with yet more gloriously bewildering details.

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict

Sajid Nadiadwala is changing the game with mass comedy.
He has submitted Housefull 5 for audience rating in two versions and mentioned which creates intrigue, as well as suggesting something much larger — perhaps a genre twist, possibly a layered narrative, or maybe a marketing genius.

Whatever it is, it’s going to be Housefull on June 6.
