Huma Qureshi’s Sensual Power Move: “Maalik Ki Mehfil Mein Mallika Ka Swagat” Lights Up the Screen
Huma Qureshi represents a new kind of Bollywood—one in which glamour, empowerment, and performance coexist symbiotically. In Maalik, starring Rajkummar Rao, Huma performs a high-octane dance number that is not only sizzling but also symbolically important.
Ahead of the release of the song today, Huma revealed the exclusive first look of Maalik Ki Mehfil Mein Mallika Ka Swagat—her bold and dazzling profile into the gritty world that director Pulkit built. And she isn’t holding back—either screen-wise or otherwise.
“I Love Spectacle”: Huma on Saying Yes Instantly
“I love spectacle! I love Indian films with big songs,”
Huma mused when I asked about her love of dance numbers.
“I grew up dancing to ‘Beedi’ from Omkara… so this was a great song to show who I am. Until your song plays in a party, have you even arrived?”
Huma continues:
“They ask me if item numbers water down my image. I do not want to be pigeonholed. I can star in Maharani, Tarla, and Delhi Crime, and also star in a dance number.
I am an actor. I perform.”
“This Is About Celebrating Female Sensuality, Not Catering to the Male Gaze”
The number is choreographed by Vijay Ganguly and composed by Sachin-Jigar and directed by Pulkit—whose Bhakshak (2024) was widely acclaimed for its sensitive storytelling.
Huma says she never felt objectified and that she felt empowered:
“In 2025, women are aware of the reasons for such songs. Before, this was done to be viewed by men. Now, it shifts to female sensuality, form, and sexuality. When a filmmaker like Pulkit is doing it, you know he is going to do it humanely.”
She added:
“Why should I be embarrassed as a woman to show my sensuality?”
About Maalik & Huma’s Fiery Number
Rajkummar Rao heads Maalik as a gangster caught in a violent and dark story in Allahabad in 1988. The teaser already garnered attention, showcasing his raw transformation. Huma’s number creates contrast—a glamorous diversion, blending fashion with fortitude.
The film is directed by Pulkit, and it is Huma’s second collaboration with Rajkummar after Monica, O My Darling. The actress reportedly shot for 16 hours in a row for the song’s final day, which simply goes to show her drive and professionalism.
The song “Dil Thaam Ke” by Huma Qureshi is out today!
The momentum for Maalik gets bigger and bigger as the movie’s second song, Dil Thaam Ke, featuring Huma Qureshi in her glitziest avatar so far, releases today — June 20, 2025.
Set against the gritty gangster backdrop of Rajkummar Rao, the song is a contrasting pièce de résistance of high-energy entertainment.
Helmed by Pulkit, the action entertainer is getting big buzz—especially with Huma’s high-voltage performance and Rajkummar’s transformation. With just weeks to go before theatrical release on July 11, 2025, Maalik is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the season.
