Farhan Akhtar‘s announcement in 2021 about his directorial comeback with the slice-of-life road trip film, Jee Le Zaraa, created quite a buzz in the industry.
The film boasted a stellar cast including Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt. However, this project never took off due to scheduling conflicts and the cast moved on to other commitments.
Farhan Akhtar To Bring Jee Le Zaraa Back On Track
Recent reports from Pinkvilla suggest a revival of Jee Le Zaraa, with Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby exploring the possibility of bringing the project back to life. Despite being sidelined previously, the team has continued to refine the script, indicating their commitment to the film.
A source close to the development revealed, “The film was put on the back burner due to date issues and not completely called off, as it’s a pet project for all the stakeholders – from the producers to writers and director.” With the script finalised, efforts are now underway to resurrect the project.
Jee Le Zaraa holds special significance for Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, as it aims to complete a trilogy of slice-of-life friendship films, following the success of Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Farhan Akhtar has been actively engaging with the lead actors – Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt – to coordinate their schedules and reignite discussions about the film.
More Clarity On The Project By The End Of 2024
The movie, which aims to bring together three top stars of their respective eras, remains highly anticipated. While shooting timelines are yet to be finalised, it’s expected that more clarity will emerge by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar remains committed to both acting in a feature film and directing Don 3 alongside Ranveer Singh.
