COVID-19 has changed the way films are strategised and shot these days, not only in terms of the budget but also, the way they’re shot.
Vipul Shah recently completed the shoot of his film, Sanak with a limited crew of just 15 people. Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan also shot at safe and isolated locations of North East. Choreographers like Ganesh Acharya have started choreographing songs of lesser number of junior dancers.
Apparently, John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor also did not film the planned hand-to-hand combat action sequence for ‘Ek Villain 2’. Instead, they have filmed different gun battles and chase sequences in Mumbai and Goa with a limited crew.

A source, close to John Abraham was quoted saying, “The actors are willing to do all kinds of scenes with any number of crowds, but the makers are not taking the risk. Ek Villain 2 is a pure action film. Action sequences were to be filmed with large crowds, but the strategy was tweaked, because of circumstances. The hand-to-hand fight combat scenes between Hero, Villain or his henchmen are currently on hold. Instead, the sequences of gun fight, running and chases are being filmed. In simple words, social distancing action is happening these days.”
The source added, “If the COVID situation settles down, further schedules will be planned for shooting hand-to-hand combat sequences. Recently the film was being shot in Goa. Before that, the film was shot in Mumbai for only 15 to 17 days. Only John Abraham’s scenes were shot in Mumbai, and that too at less crowded places. A fight sequence was filmed in a field at Filmcity, which had an action scene in a car with only four fighters. Whereas, the sequences of Arjun were shot in Goa. Both actors haven’t been shot together yet.”

“The team also had a schedule in Mauritius. Shooting was to be done in the locations there. That too had to be shifted, because Mauritius is still closed,” another source added.
Ek Villain 2 is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor. Arjun Kapoor was recently roped in after Aditya Roy Kapur oped out of the film.
