Kajol Embarks on Spiritual Journey Ahead of Maa Release
Bollywood superstar Kajol is on a spiritual voyage, and ahead of her film Maa, she visited the highly revered Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata. Wearing a peach sari, fringed with a golden embroidered border, and a bindi on her forehead, Kajol participated in the aarti ceremony at the temple, asking for blessings from Maa Kali, a goddess she has often called upon in the past.
“This Is The Most Important Role I’ve Ever Performed”: Kajol On The Upcoming Film Maa
While at the temple, Kajol spoke to the media and made a bold statement about her next film:
“This is my strongest role ever!”
Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa follows the journey of a mother who will go to any length to protect her daughter. Kajol stars as the nominal character in what she feels is an emotionally charged and most personal performance. The story of the film depicts the incredible strength of mothers, the emotional toll of protecting a loved one, and the primal instinct of a mother fighting to protect from outside harm.
A Great Ensemble Cast & An Emotion-Based Story
Maa also stars Kherin Sharma as a prominent supporting character and Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta in critical roles. The story deals with family, protection, sacrifice, and love, themes and ideas explored across generations and cultures.
Produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak, and presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 22, 2025, and has already generated a lot of buzz, with Kajol’s fans eagerly awaiting to watch the film.
Kajol’s Busy Schedule: From Do Patti To Maharagni – Queen of Queens
Kajol was recently seen in the Netflix thriller Do Patti, wherein she played a fierce police officer investigating a high-profile attempted murder. The film also starred Kriti Sanon in a double role. Shaheer Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi, and Brijendra Kala also starred in the project.
Kajol’s next feature is Maa, the action-thriller Sarzameen, and the highly anticipated Maharagni – Queen of Queens, alongside Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha Menon, and Jisshu Sengupta. Kajol is proving to be a multifaceted actor across genres and platforms in the industry.
BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict
For Kajol to call Maa her strongest role yet is very high praise — let alone from someone with her stature and standing with respect to her peers in Bollywood. To say expectations are going to be high would be an understatement. When you couple the compelling tale envisioned by director Vishal Furia with the universally relevant theme of motherhood, Maa could very well be an emotional juggernaut for audiences in 2025. Her spiritual visit to Dakshineswar adds further depth to what is potentially going to be an impressive performance for Kajol.
