Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 Goes On Floors As Amitabh Bachchan And Kamal Haasan Begin Filming Key Portions

The Kalki 2898 AD universe is revving up again, and the sequel’s first wave of filming is said to be underway with two of Indian cinema’s most formidable screen icons taking point. After the 2024 sci-fi epic became a major theatrical success and set up a bigger, darker conflict ahead, all eyes are now on Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 as it reportedly begins rolling cameras.

What makes the development especially intriguing is the reported focus of the current schedule: the portions featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, hinting that the sequel is wasting no time moving deeper into the mythology and the looming power clash teased at the end of the first film.

Latest Update On Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 Shoot

As per online reports, Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 has gone on floors in 2026, with a schedule that reportedly includes Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. The report further states that scenes are being shot on a set in Shankarpally, Telangana.

The same reports also claim that the current schedule does not involve Prabhas, suggesting that the makers are prioritising sequences that can be completed with other principal cast members first. As of now, there has been no official announcement from the team confirming the shoot schedule or the dates.

The Film So Far And Why Part 2 Has Massive Stakes

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD blends Indian mythology with dystopian science fiction, beginning at the end of the Mahabharata era and leaping into a bleak future set in 2898 AD. The story frames the Kali Yuga’s endgame through the journey of SUM-80, a pregnant woman at the centre of a life-and-death pursuit, while forces led by the tyrannical Supreme Yaskin close in.

The first part starred Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in key roles, with the sequel expected to expand the conflict that pits power, prophecy and survival against each other on an even larger scale.

Kalki 2898 AD Cast And Film Details

Nag Ashwin directed Kalki 2898 AD, which was mounted by Vyjayanthi Movies and released theatrically in 2024 as a big-scale science-fiction film rooted in mythological lore. The central cast includes Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone, among others. Set in a dystopian future, the film follows the fight to protect SUM-80’s unborn child, a figure believed to be pivotal to a final turning point in the age of darkness.

Prabhas’ Recent And Upcoming Work

Prabhas’ most recent theatrical run in the last few years has been defined by Radhe Shyam (2022), Adipurush (2023), Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire (2023) and the franchise-launching success of Kalki 2898 AD (2024), which reinforced his pan-India box office pull.

Looking ahead, he has Fauzi with director Hanu Raghavapudi, which has been reported as targeting a Dussehra 2026 release. He is also set to headline Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, which is scheduled for release on March 5, 2027.
