Bahl told Pinkvilla that they now have “something concrete” for Queen 2. The original Queen (2013) had a massive impact on Indian cinema, especially for female-led films.

It was praised for its refreshing story and strong performances, particularly Kangana’s portrayal of a woman rediscovering herself after being left on her honeymoon. The film quickly became a fan favourite and is considered a turning point in Indian cinema.

Filmmaker Is Currently Busy With Siddhant Chaturvedi-Wamiqa Gabbi Starrer

While work on Queen 2 is still in the early stages, Bahl is busy with other projects. He’s currently filming a quirky comedy called Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling in Goa. Set against a middle-class family backdrop, the film stars Jaya Bachchan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Bahl has shared that 80% of the film is already locked, and he described it as a “crazy romantic comedy,” with Bachchan taking on a role she hasn’t done in years.

Bahl is also looking at Shaitaan 2, a possible follow-up to his 2011 thriller. However, he admits that he has been distracted by new and exciting stories. He even mentioned feeling a little “jealous” of filmmakers creating cinematic universes and hinted that he has an action thriller in the works, which he’s eager to dive into.

About Kangana’s Queen

Queen (2014) is a heartwarming comedy-drama about Rani Mehra, a shy Punjabi girl from Delhi, whose fiancé calls off their wedding just days before the big day. Determined to find herself, Rani decides to go on her honeymoon alone to Paris and Amsterdam. Along the way, she meets new people, faces challenges, and grows stronger.

The film was widely praised for its direction, screenplay, and Kangana Ranaut’s outstanding performance. It won multiple awards, including two National Film Awards for Best Hindi Film and Best Actress, along with six Filmfare Awards. Queen is recognised as a groundbreaking feminist film and has developed a devoted fanbase over time.
