Karan Johar has announced a project that he calls one of Dharma Productions‘ proudest films. He shared a heartfelt note on Instagram to reflect on his journey as a producer and his commitment to launching new talent in Bollywood.
Karan Johar Announces One Of His ‘Proudest’ Films
Karan Johar shared that when he started producing films in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho, his goal was to support filmmakers and storytellers. He admitted that while some projects succeeded and others didn’t, the intention was always to create meaningful films. He aimed to entertain, gain recognition, and enjoy the process of filmmaking.
He proudly announced that Dharma’s next release will mark the debut of its 24th new director, adding that “90% of them are outsiders.”
Johar rarely shares personal notes before a film’s release, but this project has deeply inspired him. The debut director and the production team have worked tirelessly for four years, overcoming pandemic delays and challenges. He praised the actors and crew for their dedication and love for the film.
While success is unpredictable, Johar expressed confidence in the project, calling it one of Dharma’s proudest films. Signing off as both a filmmaker and an audience member, he hoped viewers would connect with the team’s passion.

While he did not name the film, reports suggest that the release date of Kesari Chapter 2 starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday will be announced soon. The courtroom drama is based on the life of C Sankaran Nair and fans are eagerly waiting for an official confirmation.
KJo Recently Reacted To Nadaaniyan Backlash
Johar recently addressed the criticism surrounding Nadaaniyan, which marked the debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. The Netflix teen romance faced backlash for its dialogues and performances with heavy trolling online.
At the trailer launch of Akaal, he was asked about the negative reception. He spoke about critics and trolls, making it clear that he respects genuine reviews.
The filmmaker said, “My relationship with the critics never changes according to their reviews. That is their work. I don’t believe they are deliberately trying to bring down the film. Sometimes, nameless trolls vent their frustrations on us. I feel pity for them, nothing else.”
Karan Johar also pointed out how harsh criticism affects young actors. He remarked, “When you read certain things, you realise they are someone’s daughter or son. Their parents read those things too. A critic wrote – I want to kick this film. That’s where I have a problem.”
Nadaaniyan is directed by debutant Shauna Gautam and debuted on Netflix on March 7. However, the film failed to impress audiences. Alongside Ibrahim and Khushi, the film featured Archana Puran Singh, Meezaan Jafri, Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhry.
