Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, who is known for producing and directing romantic and family dramas, in reportedly in talks to acquire the Hindi remake rights of the Kannada blockbuster Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. The film, directed by Hemanth Rao and starring Rakshit Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth, is a love story that spans over a decade and explores the themes of fate, destiny, and sacrifice.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which means “Hello from the Seven Seas”, was released in two parts, Side A and Side B, in October and November 2023. The film received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Karan Johar wants to rope in original director of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello
According to sources, Karan Johar was impressed by the film’s unique narrative and emotional quotient, and decided to buy the remake rights. He is planning to rope in Hemanth Rao to direct the Hindi version as well but the catch is that Hemanth doesn’t want to direct it. He wants to tell new stories rather than re telling same one again.
As per a media report in Times Now, Karan is adamant. He has first-hand experience of what a remake can shape into in the wrong hands. Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat in Marathi was radically reduced in its Hindi remake Dhadak, produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shashank Khaitan.

This is not the first time that Karan Johar has shown interest in remaking regional films in Hindi. He has previously produced the Hindi versions of Marathi hit Sairat and Tamil blockbuster OK Kanmani. He is also currently working on the Hindi adaptation of the French comedy The Intouchables, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao.
