Recently, the anticipation around Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 ratcheted up to new heights, especially with speculation that Kartik Aaryan would join Varun Dhawan for the sequel to the comedy film. But fans with their fingers crossed for a promising new pairing may need to temper their enthusiasm — as Kartik Aaryan is officially not part of the film.
The clarification comes from an insider source.
“The rumours about Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are not true. The actor is busy filming his new projects and wants to finish those off first.”
Kartik’s Solo-Film Philosophy
The source shared a bit more information about Kartik’s work philosophy, stating,
“Kartik is presently focusing only on solo-led films because he believes it leads to the best path aligned with his growth and the space he has created. This is completely about him being confident in his vision; it is not about never being in an ensemble or multi-hero project. He is one of the smartest actors today, and that reflects in the choices he continues to make.”
This clarification has now propelled the actor’s busy and upcoming schedule, which has several big-budget films.
He’s currently shooting an untitled romantic drama with Anurag Basu which has co-star Sreeleela and is currently being shot in the North East. He is also leading two big films coming up for Karan Johar.
- a high-concept fantasy film, Naagzilla, and
- Tu Mera Main Teri Main Teri Tu Mera, from Sameer Vidwans;
that are both up-and-coming and set to release in 2026.
Varun Dhawan Still Locked-In
In the meantime, Varun Dhawan is reportedly confirmed for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, which will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the original producer as well.
Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 is expected to continue the comical expedition from the 2004 blockbuster, which starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra.
While the script is still being developed, the makers are eyeing a late 2026 release.
Who Will Join Varun Now?
