Kartik Aaryan’s next big screen move brings together one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable young stars and one of its most polarising filmmakers. The actor is set to headline Operation Sindoor, Vivek Agnihotri’s new film for T-Series and I Am Buddha Productions, creating an unexpected pairing that instantly stands out in Aaryan’s fast-evolving career lineup.
Operation Sindoor Draws From Lt Gen K J S Dhillon’s Book
Operation Sindoor is based on Lt. Gen. K. J. S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan. The film is positioned as a dramatic retelling of a major military chapter, with Agnihotri framing it as a project shaped by extensive on-ground research and institutional collaboration.
Announcing the film, Agnihotri wrote, “Rooted in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and backed by extensive, ground-level research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces, this is a story drawn from reality… not to create noise, but to confront it: with facts, with clarity, and the magic of cinema.”
The film marks the first collaboration between Aaryan and Agnihotri. It also adds another high-profile title to T-Series’ Hindi film slate, with Bhushan Kumar backing the project alongside Agnihotri’s I Am Buddha Productions.
Where The Film Fits In Kartik Aaryan’s Lineup
The signing also arrives at a moment when Aaryan’s slate is unusually varied, with the actor juggling large-scale commercial films and image-shifting dramas. He is currently shooting Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin, and will begin work on Operation Sindoor after wrapping up that film.
His upcoming calendar also includes Naagzilla, which is set for a theatrical release on February 12, 2027, and an untitled Anurag Basu musical romantic drama co-starring Sreeleela, which will arrive in cinemas on April 30, 2027. He has also reunited with Kabir Khan for an untitled biographical sports drama based on the life of kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam.
That Kabir Khan project carries added significance because it marks Aaryan’s production debut under his banner Dopamine Studios. Beyond these films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 and Kaaliya are also part of his announced slate.
Kartik Aaryan’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Aaryan’s recent filmography shows how carefully he has been calibrating his screen image. In 2023, he starred in Satyaprem Ki Katha opposite Kiara Advani, a romantic drama that moved him away from the breezy comic space that first made him a star. In 2024, he followed that with Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion, taking on the role of Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, before returning to franchise territory with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, one of the year’s major Hindi box office successes.
Against that backdrop, Operation Sindoor feels like one of the sharper turns in his upcoming lineup. Unlike the fantasy, romance and franchise titles around it, this film places Aaryan inside a politically charged, research-driven military drama, making the signing notable not just for its scale, but for the kind of screen space it opens up for him next.
