The actor dropped a new poster on Instagram this Wednesday and it’s hard to miss. He appears in a full Kathakali avatar, complete with bold makeup, grand headgear, and a fierce expression.

His transformation into the traditional dance form from Kerala isn’t just for aesthetics. He wrote, “This is not a costume. It’s a symbol of tradition, of resistance, of truth, of my nation. C Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought the British Empire with the law and with fire in his soul. This 18th APRIL, we bring you the court trial they never taught in textbooks.”
The poster pays tribute to both the character’s Malayali roots and his fearless spirit. In Kathakali, the green-painted face called Pachcha stands for noble figures like sages, kings, and heroes, just like Nair.

Kesari Chapter 2 follows the story of C Sankaran Nair, a man who challenged the British Raj in court after the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. His legal battle brought global attention to the brutalities of colonial rule and turned into one of the most talked-about trials of its time.
The film has been directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and takes inspiration from The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Akshay leads the cast as Nair, with R Madhavan playing Advocate Neville McKinley and Ananya Panday stepping in as Dilreet Gill.
On April 3, the makers released the official trailer, giving fans a taste of the powerful courtroom drama ahead. The trailer opens with the chilling visuals of the massacre and quickly moves into the intense courtroom face-off between Akshay and Madhavan. Emotions run high, and the tension is real.

Backed by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, the film is set to hit theatres on April 18.
