After its sensational debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, Karan Johar’s Kill is all geared up for a theatrical release. This highly anticipated action thriller stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Chhaya, and Tanya Maniktala in lead roles.
The just-released official trailer has won widespread admiration. Further heightening the interest, the first song from the film, “Kaawaa Kaawaa,” is now out.
Kill Song ‘Kaawaa Kaawa’ Is A PERFECT Punjabi-Pop Fusion
The song is an electrifying Punjabi track composed and written by Shashwat Sachdev and voiced by Sudhir Yaduvanshi, Sanj V, and Shashwat Sachdev himself.
“Kaawaa Kaawaa,” which celebrates Punjabi music fused with pop elements, features Lakshya in an intense fight sequence. The song traces the journey of Army commando Amrit, played by Lakshya, as he races against time on a New Delhi-bound train for his true love, Tulika, played by Tanya Maniktala.
It is an unpredictable journey with many unexpected challenges. The peppy beats and the lyrics, “Tere layi Ladd jaana jagg saara, Tere layi har sitam nu, har zulam seene pe lejavan,” set the perfect tone for the film.

Here’s What Makers Said About The ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ Song
Producer Guneet Monga Kapoor welcomed the song with great enthusiasm. She said, “A film like Kill has so much energy and emotion. It needed a song to match. ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ is an adrenaline-pumping anthem, backed by a fusion of traditional Punjabi beats. The film and its lyrics both tell how much one will go fighting for their love. I’m truly grateful to Shashwat, Sudhir, and Sanj—our hero’s war chant.”
Producer Karan Johar has also been swooning over the song. “‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ happens to be one of my most loved songs in the film. The moment you get down to hear it, it’s intense and makes one get moving. Shashwat, Sudhir, and Sanj have given life to the song by blending Punjabi and pop beautifully. I just can’t wait for people to really hear and enjoy it.”
Lyricist and music composer Shashwat Sachdev expressed his excitement, saying, “Composing the music for this film has been an absolute honour. I’m grateful to the makers who trusted me with their project. Working with Sudhir and Sanj has been fantastic; both are so talented. We just can’t wait for everyone’s reaction to this new-age Punjabi anthem with a pop extravaganza.”

The film is slated for release on July 3, 2024. It had its globally acclaimed premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2023, where it was the first runner-up for the People’s Choice Award: Midnight Madness.
