The latest episode of Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan season 8 featured the Deol brothers, Sunny and Bobby, who opened up about their personal and professional lives. The episode that airs tonight is expected to be full of candid confessions, hilarious anecdotes and some surprising revelations.
Sunny Deol on what he doesn’t like about three Khans of Bollywood
One of the highlights of the episode was the rapid fire round, where Sunny Deol gave some fiery answers to Karan’s questions. When asked what he likes and dislikes about Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, Sunny did not mince his words. When speaking about his good quality, Sunny said that SRK is “hardworking.” But when asked about what he does not like about Shah Rukh, Sunny said, “What I don’t like about him is making the actors a commodity.” After Sunny’s answer, Karan looked visibly shocked and exclaimed “oh God!”

He also said how Salman Khan is ‘making everybody into a bodybuilder’ and how Akshay Kumar does ‘too many films’. His answers left Karan and Bobby stunned and amused.
Sunny Deol’s equation with Shah Rukh Khan
The two stars had a bitter relationship for a long time after they co-starred in Darr, a film by Yash Chopra. Sunny felt that he was cheated and Shah Rukh got the better role in the film, even though Sunny was the lead actor. They seemed to have buried the hatchet when Sunny invited Shah Rukh to his party celebrating the success of Gadar 2.
In an interview with Zoom, Sunny said, “On many occasions even I have called him, we have shared our thoughts on certain things. The past issues, or whatever they were, I say time heals everything and we move ahead. That’s how life should be.” During his recent appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny described their feud as “childish” and said, “A time comes when you forget everything that happened and you understand that that should not have happened as that was childishness.”

Sunny had also said in many interviews that Shah Rukh Khan had also called him and congratulated him for the success of the movie just a day before he went to see the movie and how he spoke to his wife and son too.
Sunny Deol requested Akshay Kumar not to release OMG 2 on same date as Gadar 2
Sunny also revealed that he had requested Akshay Kumar to not release his film OMG 2 on the same date as his film Gadar 2, which clashed at the box office in August 2023. He said that he had called Akshay personally and asked him to change the date of his film, as it would hurt both of them. However, Akshay did not agree and said that he had no control over the release date. Sunny said that he felt bad about it and that it did affect the business of both the films.
Sunny Deol on his wife Pooja Deol
Another interesting revelation that Sunny Deol made was about his wife Pooja Deol, who has always stayed away from the media glare. Sunny Deol defended his wife Pooja Deol’s choice and said that they all preferred to have some private time where they could relax. He said that being an actor meant being constantly exposed to the camera and the public gaze. He said that he liked to travel abroad whenever he got a chance because he could enjoy some anonymity there.
Bobby Deol on his special relationship with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment
Bobby Deol also shared some insights into his life and career, and how he bounced back after a low phase. He credited Shah Rukh Khan and his production house Red Chillies Entertainment for giving him a chance to work in films like Love Hostel, Class of 83 and a web series directed by Aryan Khan. During a conversation with KJo, Bobby revealed that he has a “relationship” with SRK’s production house Red Chillies Productions. He said, “I think I have a relationship with Red Chillies first I did Class of 83′, now Aryan’s show and then I also did Love Hostel. I think they’ve always given me good stuff.”
He also thanked Salman Khan for being a mentor and a friend to him, and for casting him in films like Race 3.
The episode ended with a fun game of ‘Who’s more likely to’, where Karan asked the brothers some quirky questions and they had to point at each other. Some of the questions were: Who’s more likely to get into a fight? Who’s more likely to cry at a movie? Who’s more likely to forget their lines? Who’s more likely to flirt with their co-star? The answers were hilarious and revealed a lot about their personalities.

Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which released in August 2023, is a sequel to the 2001 hit film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The film, set in the backdrop of the Partition of India, follows the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakina (Ameesha Patel) as they face new challenges in their married life. The film has reportedly crossed Rs 500 crore mark in the domestic market, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
