The latest film to join the release date announcement bandwagon is, Shahid Kapoor starrer cricket drama, Jersey. The makers announced that the film is slated to hit theaters on 31st December, 2021.

The development comes a day after the Maharashtra government allowed reopening of cinema halls from October 22.

The film was supposed to release on Diwali 2021 where actor had announced on its personal handles, but due to pandemic, the film has been pushed ahead by a couple of months.

The film is written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, a remake of his 2019 Telugu film of the same title. It stars Shahid Kapoor as a cricketer, alongside Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapur. The story is about a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago, now aiming to play for Indian team.

Recently the original film actor, Nani had talked about Shahid Kapoor in the Hindi remake in an interview, “I think he will do it better. He is a brilliant performer and can really get into the skin of the character.”

The film is produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju, and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.
